If there’s one thing I love to make for cozy nights in, it’s hot chocolate. In Scandinavia, we’re all about embracing hygge—that special kind of coziness you feel curled up by the fire during winter or around Christmastime. And nothing says hygge more than a warm mug of homemade hot chocolate.

For me, the best hot chocolate always starts with real dark chocolate. It gives a deeper, richer flavor that you just can’t get from cocoa powder alone. I melt it slowly into whole milk until it’s creamy and velvety—simple, but so comforting.

I love topping it with a spoonful of lightly whipped cream, and during the holiday season, I sometimes add one of my vanilla bean marshmallows. The combination of that silky chocolate, soft whipped cream, and fluffy marshmallow is just so delicious.
